GILGIT- Food items and other gifts were distributed among the Chinese Yogar families here, who are settled in different parts of Gilgit, which was dominated by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan. The packages was distributed by Secretary Food Gilgit-Baltistan Burhan Afandi at a ceremony held at Overseas Chinese Foundation office in Gilgit.
While addressing the participants, The Secretary emphasized to strive hard for establishing a peaceful society in Gilgit-Baltistan. He added that there positive contribution will further strengthen bilateral relations between China and Pakistan.
During the ceremony, food items including rice, milk, sugar, tea packs, cooking oil and flour bags
were given among 197 families, on behalf of Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Mr,Yao Jing.
While talking to Gilgit Times, Chairman Overseas Chinese Foundation Syed Aga Abdul Shakoor expressed gratitude for Chinese ambassador for donating Rs 3 million as gift package. He added that out of the total donated amount, one million rupees were being distributed among 50 deserving families in cash.
Mr Shakoor went on saying that Gilgit Baltistan needed more efforts to accelerate the pace of education. In a bid to focus on quality education, Chinese Embassy has decided to establish a school at Gilgit City contribute towards providing quality education. He added that in this regard, a meeting to be scheduled shortly with GB Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-u-Rehman,to request him to provide land for constructing the school building.
He said that Pakistan is our first home and China is our second as centuries ago our forefathers migrated from China to Gilgit. He said that as China Pakistan Economic Corridor to be a game changer project for both countries and Gilgit_Baltistan is the gateway of CPEC so we have to play our positive role for its success.
